initially, he could not hold things using left hand. but eventually his left leg also got affected. now his right hand too is weak and has limit control to grasp things. he can walk , but only very slowly - he has already fallen several times, losing control.
he is a diabetic patient. but takes insulin regularly.

some doctors diagnosed the disease as motor neuron disease (MND) - which results this gradual muscle atrophy, and porvided RILUTEK tablet.
other said it could be diabetic poly-neuropathy.

any suggestion ? idea ?

we live in bangladesh. if we find some specialist doctor we might go to india, singapore or thailand for treatment or second opinion.

My boyfriend is diabetic. He has JUST been diagnosed with neuropathy after numerous tests. At first, all the doctors found was a heart murmur, but they couldn't conclude anything with it. He doesn't have any numbness as far as I know. He hasn't told me anything about it.

He has been suffering from insomnia, and symptoms similar to that of depression. He doesn't feel weak, but sore all the time, as if he has been exercising a lot. That kind of muscle soreness. There were a couple times where he would feel his heart weigh him down, and he'd get minor headaches and feel dizzy.

There are no symptoms with his hands or feet. (yet...? >_<) Does that mean that they caught him in the early states of neuropathy?

he's been diabetic for 15 years already. It's genetic, runs in his family.

I know that Neuropathy is a slow process, and that it may lead to amputations... but does it lead to death directly because of the shut down of the nervous system, or does it lead to death indirectly, through amputations and etc?

PLEASE please... I don't really want personal accounts (no offense).I really need to know the facts, and searching on Google, Answers, etc. gives me all these scientific words and all symptoms and all treatments that I don't understand and all kinds of neuropathy and all kinds of possible outcomes. I don't want to freak myself out because I'm already very worried about him.

If you want more information about his current status to be able to answer my question more specifically, let me know. But I really... need to know.

Please and thank you to all who answer.

My mom has Type II diabetes and is suffering from neuropathy in her feet. I have read on websites that there is treatment but was curious if any of you out there who have this have any remedies for relief...like home remedies or know of any kind of over the counter cream that helps? She also has the burning and tingling sensation at times that keep her up at night. Diabetic community....PLEASE HELP!!! Any suggestions?

I have a relative with Neuropathy in the foot, he has tried Alpha Lipoic Acid for several weeks, and supposedly that did not help.

I found Capsaicin (topical) Cream, Gotu Kola, and Evening Primrose Oil as possible solutions from the University of Maryland, Mayo Clinic, and University of Michigan Medical Databases.

So,which is more effective? Anyone with any experiences of these complementary alternative treatments? (Any treatment that I have overlooked?)

I am a diabetic who is currently undergoing a lot of medical treatment. To make a long story short, I have pain and nausea (which they can't find the source to. I am undergoing a lot of tests), so they prescribed me Ultram for the pain and Compezine for the nausea. They knew that I was taking Zoloft 50 mg once a day. They knew all of my medications including Klonopin for anxiety, Geodon for my mood swings, and Lyrica for my neuropathy, and amitriptyline When I went to my behavioral health doctor, she was concerned that they gave me Ultram, because apparently they interact. Doing some research, I found that my amitriptyline also interacts with Zoloft. She warned me about them, but she didn't tell me the side effects. Are they dangerous? Has anyone taken both before? THey are both really low doses, and I won't take them at the same time. I am going to call my doctor Monday, but I really don't know if it is safe to take any Ultram over the weekend. Just so everyone knows-I WILL GO ASK A DOCTOR. I am just asking for anyone's experiences themselves. Thanks.
I am sorry I meant that she was concerned that the Zoloft would interact with the Ultram. I apologize for not being clear. And thank you for your input!

Treatment for neuropathy?

My mom is suffering from neuropathy and is in alot of pain. Her doctor seems to be using her as a testing instrument for medicines and she is getting worse. What treatments have some of you tried for your neuropathy?

Specifically, homeopathy or ANY type of alternative treatment which is effective.
The neuropathy began following a root canal in December. The symptoms are tingling, prickling, itching, extreme skin sensitivity.

I have had neuropathy for at least 8 years and the pain appears to be getting more difficult to control. The pain is primarily in my feet and lower legs. I take Lyrica twice a day but have all of the side effects associated with this product. I need help desperately but don't know where to find it. My neurologist has ordered a neuropathy profile on me and has tried several different kinds of medicines, all of which have been totally innefective. Any ideas?

i am a diabetic but this is not the reason for my neuropathy --my blood sugar is under control--it is also in my hands as well as my feet

Neuropathy and treatment?

Would like to hear from anyone who's primary neuropathy is to the entire legs and feet. Burning, icy hot sensations and burning restless feet. It is mot diabetic. I am taking large doses of neurontin and mirapex and am just barely comfortable. Has your Dr. diagnosed a possible cause?

id like to know more about neuropathy and legs, speciallity for wonds of legs

I am interested in two things. 1) Does it work - What are your experiences with it? 2) Would using an infrared light work as well?

Thank you for taking the time to answer this.
I went to that website and it talked only about diabetes and a lot of other items. It referred to losing weight as a way to get better. But, overweight is NOT my problem... Neuropathy is what I had asked about.
