I am a Registered Nurse who has had fibromyalgia for almost 3 years. I have been seeing an internal medicine doc the entire time. Besides prescribing pain meds, antidepressants, a muscle relaxer and Lyrica, my doc really hasn't been able to improve my health status. I have a pharmacy of meds to take every day; and I just think we are putting a band-aid on the symptoms, not treating the cause. I am almost positive I am also dealing with myofascial pain syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome. That is a little history, so here is my question. Has anyone had any exposure to the Fibro and Fatigue clinics? I am aware they test for a LOT of problems and they do unconventional treatments that work for some people. But my problem is the cost of the visits. I was told it is almost 0 a vistit for the 1st two visits. On top of that, it is cash up front, and they can't even file on your insurance. Why is that? But then again, I would gladly spend 0 to get my life back.

I have leg cramps, abdominal spasms and pain, shoulder muscle pain, low back ache, and jaw pain. All of these are supposedly associated with fibromyalgia symptoms, along with many others. Has anyone out there found any alternative or otc treatments to help? The prescription Lyrica and Cymbalta didn't help, nor did acupuncture. So those would have to be left off my choices. I am at my wits end, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thought I would add also that there aren't really any knowledgeable doctors in my area regarding fibromyalgia and I can't afford massages as they're not covered by my insurance otherwise I would use them for the back muscle cramps. I haven't chosen any one answer as best because no one's come up with anything I haven't already tried, other than the foot pads.

My business partner has just started taking Lyrica and his behavior is a little scary he is saying and doing things that make me feel uncomfortable

Was in a car wreck in Oct. - doct. says I have peripheral neuropathy, possibility of it being crushed nerve. Have been on Lyrica(to rejuvenate nerve-not working), also was given Tramadol(for pain-not working). I'm in pool therapy 3x a week(not working). Doct. has me wearing the AFO brace(so I won't get drop foot). Need pain relieve- and want to know treatment if it is crushed. Thanks/All Have A Good Day!!!

I am a diabetic who is currently undergoing a lot of medical treatment. To make a long story short, I have pain and nausea (which they can't find the source to. I am undergoing a lot of tests), so they prescribed me Ultram for the pain and Compezine for the nausea. They knew that I was taking Zoloft 50 mg once a day. They knew all of my medications including Klonopin for anxiety, Geodon for my mood swings, and Lyrica for my neuropathy, and amitriptyline When I went to my behavioral health doctor, she was concerned that they gave me Ultram, because apparently they interact. Doing some research, I found that my amitriptyline also interacts with Zoloft. She warned me about them, but she didn't tell me the side effects. Are they dangerous? Has anyone taken both before? THey are both really low doses, and I won't take them at the same time. I am going to call my doctor Monday, but I really don't know if it is safe to take any Ultram over the weekend. Just so everyone knows-I WILL GO ASK A DOCTOR. I am just asking for anyone's experiences themselves. Thanks.
I am sorry I meant that she was concerned that the Zoloft would interact with the Ultram. I apologize for not being clear. And thank you for your input!

Treatment for it has been about 10-11 months all the neurologist did was put me on was first she tried was cymbalta and know lyrica (first was 60 does and know it's 150 X 2) I take one pill when I get up and another at night. The pill still does not help. So I think I am out of luck and need to see a hand surgery for my operation. Though if it's needed I have some questions:
1) When they give you anistina will you fill anything even though you are sleeping?
2) My mom had it and she told me that it hurt after it was over?
3) I have it in both hands will the surgery be done in both?
4) What about my legs that have Peripheral neuropathy they tingle and such will surgery be done too?
5) Once they cut the tissue could carpal tunnel come back?

The only symptoms I do have are:
Tingling all over (hands, arms, legs, feet, head)
Aching all over
Shoulder sometimes hurts

I did have the EMG/NCS test done all over my body where it was affected.
Also I heard it cost allot of money.

i am morbidly obese (5'9"-294 lbs)I have insulin resistant diabetes. In my treatment plan I am to take along with my Metformin 2 other drugs to aid in my weight loss BYETTA-and XENACAL. I also have neuropathy as a complication from the diabetes and am prescribed LYRICA. My insurance will not cover the XENECAL for it is a weight loss drug and considered a "frivilous" expense. Nor will they cover LYRICA for it is new on the market .Ineed these meds in order to live a productive life to help loose the weight so i will not be diabetic. I am 45. I want to live until I'm 75. With out these meds ,I could die in 5 years.
The cost of these meds are -XENECAL-0.00 for a 30 day supply
LYRICA-0.00 for a 30 day supply.

I have taken neurontin and now take Lyrica for a short time. Are drugs the only thing a doctor can recommend? This condition ruins my life.

I have had neuropathy for at least 8 years and the pain appears to be getting more difficult to control. The pain is primarily in my feet and lower legs. I take Lyrica twice a day but have all of the side effects associated with this product. I need help desperately but don't know where to find it. My neurologist has ordered a neuropathy profile on me and has tried several different kinds of medicines, all of which have been totally innefective. Any ideas?

i take lyrica and diuretics. have good doc. she stresses i must starve down more. but there is the rub. i suspect i am trying to kill myself chinese style with a million cuts. also bi-polar and have recently had bypasses. life sucks most of the time. i forge ahead but not hopeful. oh, and i recently lost all my investments and am reduced to relative poverty. as the mel brooks movie stated, "life sucks." i am trying learn some buddhist techniques of devioding my lifelong "needs" and passions. damn unsuccessful so far. but doing better since i stopped taking all the tranks and drinking. friends and family have ostercized me. i am the only white guy in a dangerous black apt. complex. scared to go outside.
