The pain is so severe I can't sleep. The pain in my feet feels like my feet are made of napalm. My feet are hyper sensitive to any touch, but at the same time, my toes have no feeling in them whatsoever. I refuse to take anti-depressants as I have read that is a form of treatment. This is like a living hell. Please give me some insight and wisdom, I am loosing it here. I am not even through with college, my aspirations to be a road patrol officer are not looking so good anymore
Red please do not insult my intelligence. I was just informed via phone today from a podiatrist who conferred with my doctor about my condition. I have an appointment on the 6th of Febuary to see my regular doctor. I was just hoping to get some insight from others who suffer from the disease. Thanks for the support.

The medicine that they gave me makes me feel horrible and it isn't helping me anyway. Please someone let me know what they do or use for treatment options.

I'm 20 years old and am suffering from peripheral neuropathy. I finally went to an internal medicine doctor because my my numbness and sensitiviy were getting worse. He has ran many blood tests (auto immune, iron levels, vitamin levels, blood cell counts, blood sugar etc) to find what is causing it but nothing has turned up abnormal. Other than this I am completely healthy and would prefer to go to alternative medicine for treatment than waste more money and not finding answers.

I wanted some opinions/experiences people have had seeing an Ayurveda doctor. It would be especially helpful if someone with peripherial neuropathy has been to one too! Thankyou! Or if you have any suggestions on where I should go from there, they are welcomed too.

I have been taking corticoids for two months now because of a neuropathy problem. I have noticed some improvement, but i haven't completely recovered. How long will it take for the corticoids to make full effect?? I have gained a little weight and a lot of pimples, i would like to get rid of this treatment as soon as possible.

Cousin is crippled due to peripheral neuropathy. Permanent nerve damage, limited use of hands and feet, and chronic lifelong pain from intensive and aggressive chemotherapy for large, fast growing cancer. (Cancer is gone now. Treatment crippled her. She is 35.)

Anyway, she collects 780 bux social security disability check each month, and also has Medicaid. Making ends meet on this small sum is near impossible, because she can no longer qualify for food stamps. Also, because she recently qualified for Medicaid, she now has to pay a small amount towards rent on her apartment. (Rent was free last year, now it is 125 bux a month. She has to pay electricity and water.)

Her 15 year old son lives with her, and gets something like 250 bux a month. That helps.

However, all things considered, it's not enough. Needing to know, can she take a little part time job, like answering phones or something, and supplement her disability income that way, without losing the disability check?

I have been seeing a neurologist due to extreme muscle and joint pain, i stumble a lot, drop things, forgetfullness. I do have fibromyalgia and have for years. I also have peripheral neuropathy ( no diabetes) I have had tests to rule out Lupus and MS (which does run in the family) Lupus is neg, not enough points or evidence for MS, ( no lesions on the brain) but does not mean i do not have it. So now he wants to do more aggressive and specific testing. What I want are some suggestions of what it might be from those who experiene this, so that i can read up on it so that I can ask questions and not look like a dope when we discuss different possible causes and treatments.

recent optic neuritiis has left her (50yo F), dx MS, basically blind (light perception) only, she is also unsteady and objects appear and disappear (bathrooms in hallways......) Thanks

Taking 2400 mg of neurontin daily 2 pain pills I hve had it for 8 years I got it right after a triple bypass I currently have a double nerve stimulator in one for the arms one for the legs but no help yet my surgar runs around 75 to 80 I am not diabetic, I seen a neurolgist for 3 years all the testing he called it idotpathic and said good luck he had done all he could do, pain clinic done the nerve stimulator thanks for any help seems like nothing works

Was in a car wreck in Oct. - doct. says I have peripheral neuropathy, possibility of it being crushed nerve. Have been on Lyrica(to rejuvenate nerve-not working), also was given Tramadol(for pain-not working). I'm in pool therapy 3x a week(not working). Doct. has me wearing the AFO brace(so I won't get drop foot). Need pain relieve- and want to know treatment if it is crushed. Thanks/All Have A Good Day!!!

I have been recently diagnosed by a neurologist. What kind of treatment can I expect. The pain is incredible in my feet I can't stand it. Sometimes they are numb, sensitive to cold, tingling...does this get better?
I do not have diabetes yet but it runs in the family...recent fasting glucose was 112

me but I am in MO and she is in CA, It is such a severe case I almost lost a foot because of an ulcer and i have had several IVIG treatments it would just be nice to see if someone close to my age had some suggestions or just to understand it. Mayo did accet me so I have explored multiple avenues, hopefully someone has some ideas thank you

his feet hurt so bad he threatens to have them cut off. He is taking Neurontin 300mg 3 x day but its not helping. If he tries to take more it makes him sick. What else can we do? What other treatments are out there? He knows he should have taken better care of his diabetes but now he is. Also now his skin is getting sensitive especially when he first puts on his shirt, then it gradually subsides. What's causing this?

My mom is suffering from neuropathy and is in alot of pain. Her doctor seems to be using her as a testing instrument for medicines and she is getting worse. What treatments have some of you tried for your neuropathy?

My mom is 45 years old and has half the vision in her right eye blurred starting 18 months ago. She has been diagnosed with bilateral optic neuropathy but after much testing no cause has been found. Does this mean she will just have to live with thisand is there really no treatment? Does it also mean that the blurred vision will definitely move to the left eye?

Treatment for it has been about 10-11 months all the neurologist did was put me on was first she tried was cymbalta and know lyrica (first was 60 does and know it's 150 X 2) I take one pill when I get up and another at night. The pill still does not help. So I think I am out of luck and need to see a hand surgery for my operation. Though if it's needed I have some questions:
1) When they give you anistina will you fill anything even though you are sleeping?
2) My mom had it and she told me that it hurt after it was over?
3) I have it in both hands will the surgery be done in both?
4) What about my legs that have Peripheral neuropathy they tingle and such will surgery be done too?
5) Once they cut the tissue could carpal tunnel come back?

The only symptoms I do have are:
Tingling all over (hands, arms, legs, feet, head)
Aching all over
Shoulder sometimes hurts

I did have the EMG/NCS test done all over my body where it was affected.
Also I heard it cost allot of money.

Is there a treatment that works for you. Prescription or non? What kind of doc do you see? My grandmother just found out she has this any advice for her? Thanks in advance.

her doctor said she has neuropathy. what can she do to fee better i heard about this "rebuilder medical" device that supposed to help with the nerves. is that a good product?

I have taken neurontin and now take Lyrica for a short time. Are drugs the only thing a doctor can recommend? This condition ruins my life.

I have had neuropathy for at least 8 years and the pain appears to be getting more difficult to control. The pain is primarily in my feet and lower legs. I take Lyrica twice a day but have all of the side effects associated with this product. I need help desperately but don't know where to find it. My neurologist has ordered a neuropathy profile on me and has tried several different kinds of medicines, all of which have been totally innefective. Any ideas?
